Burns Undeterred By Third Round Knockout

Always a class act, even in defeat, Gilbert “Durinho” Burns posted a video on his YouTube Chancel looking back on his recent defeat in UFC 299 to Jack Della Maddalena.  Burns was winning on the scorecards following the first and second rounds, but suffered a knockout by JDM in the third.

Durinho indicated that he went into the fight with his signature positive attitude, “I felt great.  I had a good camp,” Gilbert said.  He added that’s he thought that they had a “great strategy.”  He refused to take anything away from his opponent and described Maddelena as a “tough one.”  He indicated that he has much respect for his opponent and is a bigger fan after learning the news that JDM suffered a broken arm and still came through in the fight.

Gilbert Burns – First Statement after UFC 299

Despite the unfortunate ending of the fight for Durinho, at the end of the day, he was really happy with his performance.

While Burns is looking forward to rest and following the protocol for recovery from the medical experts, his sights remain on the championship belt.  He still believes that he has everything that he needs to be a champion.  “The dream is still alive,” he assured his fans.  In fact, he noted that “it’s not just a dream, it’s my goal.”
